Young Adult Network

To provide young adults with the tools they need through programs and Christian fellowship to develop their faith and handle life changes. YAN recognizes and affirms the skills, talents and spiritual  gifts of young adults between the ages of 18-45 at Bethel AME Church

The Young Adult Network was birthed in 1993 when Bishop Philip R. Cousin noticed there was a significant lack of activity among the 18-40 age group in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Determined not to let this continue, Bishop Cousins established the Young Adult Network (YAN) so that this "missing" age group would have a vehicle through which to be active. YAN became active across the First District, which, along with Delaware, includes Bermuda, New England, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia and Western New York.

YAN logoWhen Reverend Beaman arrived at Bethel, he immediately embraced Bishop Cousin's vision for YAN. Pastor Beaman reached out to the young adults at Bethel, and seven responded. Of the original seven, Maurice Gray, Jr. is still active with this God-inspired and growing YAN ministry.

The ministry of the Young Adult Network is to create programs, concepts and ministries to aid in the spiritual, social, career and community needs of young adults between the ages of 18-45 in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. After the recent expansion of the age limit, YAN currently sponsors the monthly Friday Night Love worship service and a quarterly rap session, both of which are designed to aid the spiritual life of the church. YAN's focus is on the 18-45 age group, but all are welcome to attend our worship services.

The executive committee meets on the second Monday of the month a t 7:00 p.m.  Anyone in the 18-45 age group is welcome to join and help YAN in its mission.

"For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of these things is death. But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification and the outcome of eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." —Romans 6:20-23
