Brownie Troop 801
Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Sponsored by Bethel AME Church
Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay
Brownie Troop 801's mission statement is aligned with the mission statement for the Girls Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay (which includes all troops residing in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia). We work with girls in grades one, two and three to build within them the value of education and studying hard in school, confidence to realize their own personal dreams, courage to try new things and character so that they can make the right decisions as they go through life.
Purpose:
Brownie Girl Scouts have the opportunity to interact with other girls their age, to work toward a shared goal, to make new friends and to learn about different cultures.
By participating in the scouting experience, girls gain a better understanding of themselves and their world through listening, reading observing, and participating in meaningful activities.
Girls start the transition to being a Brownie Girl Scout when they learn the Girl Scout Law which is recited at the beginning of each meeting:
"On my honor, we will try to serve God and my country, to help people at all times and to live by the Girl Scout Law."
This year, Girl Scouting in the United States will celebrate its 95th Anniversary with special activities in Washington, D.C. in June.
